Selecting the correct sampling strategy is the
first step in implementing a successful monitoring project. The
goal of a monitoring plan is to collect accurate and cost
effective information about the constituent of interest. In some
circumstances the behavior of a constituent, such as turbidity,
is known and a detailed sampling strategy can be implemented at
the onset of the project. Under conditions where little is known
about the constituent, a general sampling strategy is implemented
at the initiation of monitoring and is modified as the data are
collected and analyzed to improve the sampling efficiency by
optimizing data collection while reducing costs.
RiverMetrics™ can provide sampling algorithms to meet your
monitoring objectives.
